NATION FIRST, YIELD LATER
From today until the 25th of April 2020, Island Girl commits to donating 50% OF SALES FROM ALL REGULAR PRICED ITEMS PURCHASED ONLINE to support #COURAGECEBU, a fundraising effort for Cebu against COVID-19. While our online store is open, we are currently not able to ship out any packages until the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Manila is lifted. Your support will not only count as donation but will also somehow help secure the livelihood of the people in our community.
This is for the real heroes of our time. Know that we will rise above the situation -- hand in hand, one day at a time. We end this on a note of gratitude, by simply reiterating the words, thank you.

Know more about #COURAGECEBU
Each of us in the group moved to Cebu in the name of love, business or friendship. We found our way to each other, calling ourselves the “Manila Imports”.
Cebu is also our home, not just geographically, but also in our hearts.
“Bisag sa Manila ga dako, naa ra sa Sugbu ang among kasing kasing.”
COVID-19 is affecting the health; food and financial security of our fellow Cebuanos. Our group is creating this fund drive to help secure and provide test kits to the major hospitals/testing centers* in Cebu, PPEs (protective suits, masks, goggles, etc.), as well as food, vitamins and other essentials for those infected and the medical frontliners.
We commit to be transparent with all the donations and the procurement of kits and other supplies by providing regular updates on this channel.
Budget allocation for the money we will raise will be:
Target hospitals/testing centers: Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Perpetual Succour Hospital, Chong Hua Hospital, Cebu Doctors University Hospital
Please support our fund drive. Let us work together to flatten the curve, and soon eradicate the COVID-19 virus that disrupted and suffered so many lives. A single drop of water is enough to create a ripple. Every contribution, no matter the size, from your hearts is deeply appreciated.
Thank you.

Island Girl is all about that, and in an effort to further push our philosophy of green fashion and promote the belief that natural is beautiful, we have partnered with Go Lokal!, a nationwide initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that provides local manufacturers the opportunity to bring their products to the commercial and mainstream mall market.
We have micro, small, and medium enterprises that are thriving with their inspiring stories and design insights. This triggered the creation of the design-centric concept store that is Go Lokal! highlighting more than 25 sellers offering high quality products in gifts, home, fashion, food, and souvenirs from all over the country.
We couldn’t be more honored to be the torch bearers for Cebu in bringing Go Lokal! to our shores. It was made official last October 11, 2018 at the launch and contract signing in Ayala Center Cebu. Hosted by Blinky de Leon, there were lots of fun activities like an Instagram contest, a bead buffet where guests made their own accessories, and exciting raffles and giveaways by Island Girl, Nooks, Kawayan, Hineleban, Virtucio, Bon Ace, Oh So Healthy, Algy Naturals, and Auro Chocolate.
Special shoutout to Sweet Veloso Selma who won our Peacock Bardot Bag!
As an added treat, Diane Leigh and Dane Smith performed a few songs using Turtulele’s fiberglass ukuleles. It was truly a celebration of local brands coming together in one venue through Go Lokal!.
The MOA signing took place in the presence of DTI Undersecretary Nora Terrado, Ayala Center Cebu General Manager Bong Dy, and Janet Chua, president of Cyprea International, the mother company of Island Girl Philippines. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the people behind the production: Paprika and The Backbone Company.
We are hopeful that supporting the mindful lifestyle will go beyond being a trend, and be a lasting practice for Cebuanos and the rest of the Philippines. Let’s rediscover our culture through the patronage of natural beauty and body products, sustainable fashion, artisanal treats, and handmade pieces.

The Capiz shell is embedded in the history of the Philippines as a vital part of Filipino culture. It’s used in architecture and ornamentation, and can be found in windows, chandeliers, vases, kitchenware, and many more.
We took this special material that has a rich heritage, and created a line of earrings that showcases how shell can be sophisticated when done and worn right.
As part of our Bridal Collection, our Capiz earrings juxtaposes modern design with organic material with shapes that are contemporary and geometric, and dainty and whimsical.
Our Capiz earrings promise to suit every mood, carrying with them beauty and grace that’s timeless.

One aesthetic that’s a staple for Island Girl is pandan woven in the traditional style of banig, which can be seen in our fruit purses and bags. Banig weaving using pandan is a reflection of Filipino ingenuity and heritage that’s essential to our culture and identity. Along with the abundance and convenience of cultivating pandan is the process that goes behind creating our pieces.
As our brand’s thrust to highlight natural materials in every product, we literally source from the ground up. We went around remote areas in Cebu and its neighboring provinces, and experienced firsthand how our raw materials are gathered, prepped, and made into the final component product for us to sew, embroider, and string into finished products. What was more amazing was seeing the change of hands in every step of production – from the gatherers, to the dyers, to weavers, and finally to our designers and sewers.
We do what we do because even though the production process can sometimes be challenging and dependent on many factors, we are privileged to be able to do meaningful work, knowing that the success of the brands means success for so many, especially for those in the grassroots level.

Inspired by round bags seen on runways and spotted being slung across the shoulders of social media's most popular set, we worked with local weaving communities in Cebu and its neighboring provinces to create our version of the latest bag every girl wants in her closet.

This woven boho accessory is everywhere for a reason with a number of variants you can choose from. It’s stylish, simple, and structured. The Island Girl interpretation is made out of locally grown rattan, handwoven by only the most skilled local artisans, and finished in our own factory to ensure the best quality, the Alicia is #proudlymadeinCebu.
While the design is tailored for the tropics because of its natural elements, it is versatile in matching whatever outfit you feel like putting on because of its minimalist and streamlined aesthetic.
As we are constantly in pursuit of doing something different, we love it when fashion trends push us to create fresh, new products that utilize our region’s natural materials and pieced together by local craftsmen. #supportlocal

Cebu is a burgeoning mecca of creativity and culture. One of the contributing factors to this community is our craftsmen who make beautiful things by hand.
The spotlight is on them in Island Girl’s Heritage Collection inspired by the iconic Peacock chair.

The spotlight is on them in Island Girl’s Heritage Collection inspired by the iconic Peacock chair. A true marriage of fashion, function, and heritage, our Heritage Collection celebrates the present by paying homage to the past. It embraces the Filipino craft of rattan weaving that’s been around for ages. One of the notable celebrities who have been famously photographed in a Peacock chair was Brigitte Bardot, and we wanted to honor this celebration of craft and history with our Bardot Cage Bags.
As part of the Heritage Collection, our Bardot Cage Bags are handcrafted with rattan and feature intricate swirls as the focal point of the design. It is an original creation that stays true to the Island Girl philosophy of creating handmade sturdy bags that are fashionable, functional, and sustainable.
Like our other designs, our Bardot Cage Bags merge the traditions of Filipino artisans with the latest trends of today to come up with a range that is fashionable as much as it is all natural. Using locally sourced materials, we utilize processes of hand manufacturing in almost all of our products, from embroidery and crochet to weaving and bead stringing of artisanal goods.
Handmade, natural, and eco-friendly, the Bardot Cage Bag is a piece of our home that reflects the extraordinary skills of our weavers and the beauty of our culture.
